Eucalyptus honey from Spain
This type of honey is produced by bees that release eucalyptus flowers. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus) is an evergreen tree that stands out for its great size (it can reach 60m in height) and especially for its characteristic aroma. This plant species, originally from Oceania, is currently found anywhere in the world, due to its great capacity to adapt to various terrains and climates. Currently, there is knowledge of the existence of around 700 different species of eucalyptus around the world.
The date of collection of eucalyptus honey is during the months of August and September, the months of flowering of eucalyptus. In Spain we can find this species in the provinces Huelva and Badajoz, although we can also find it west of the Cantabrian and in the Southern Mediterranean.
Its amber color can vary from lighter to darker shades depending on the content if the bees have also used heather nectar or broom. It is easy to differentiate it from the rest by its woody flavor and its delicate smell with balsamic notes. It is a honey that does not usually crystallize easily, and if it does, it forms very fine crystals.
The taste of honey in the mouth is very sweet and concentrated, with slight acid touches, not at all bothersome to the palate.
Like the rest of honey, eucalyptus honey La Carrasqueta, is raw honey of 100% natural origin. Unadulterated or pasteurized, which retains all the properties of honey.
